Back to school

Well done year 1. You have had a wonderful first few days back at school. The children have been able to focus and settle back into routine and they have enjoyed exploring their new classroom. I am very proud with how enthusiastic you have all been.

This week we have been learning the sounds ‘ay’ and ‘ee’ in Read Write Inc RWI, the children were able to carry on from the phonics scheme with enthusiasm. I loved the way you were able to identify those special friends!

In Maths the children have been learning to sort objects and they have started to count to find an amount. They thought about different ways to sort objects, into colour, size and some children sorted dinosaurs into herbivores and carnivores!

For English the children have been learning to retell parts of our whole school story ‘The Promise’. They have been able to freeze frame parts of the story and they have even enjoyed painting some of the birds from the story and thinking about what colours they might use and why!

I hope that they all have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing them all on Monday morning.
