Another rewarding day

It really was a splendid day at our school on Friday. During the morning there was the Governors’ Award for Foundation and Middle Phase, with the Upper Phase celebration in the afternoon. These ceremonies are fast becoming a real highlight of each term. It was wonderful to see the pride on the faces of both the children who were receiving the awards and also their parents as the teachers spoke so warmly and with such insight about the children they had chosen for the awards for the Spring term. Once again the awards were presented by members of the Governing Body which provided the final special part to the proceedings.

We also had the first of what will be weekly Blox Fun Run sessions. Many children (and members of staff!) enjoyed the opportunity of taking part and you could really sense the excitement and pride when both adults and children alike finished either 5 or 10 laps respectively. I am sure that during the summer both times and distances run will inexorably improve.

Primary aged children playing on the school field is a quintessentially sign of the arrival of summer. It was a real pleasure watching and being alongside them last week as they enjoyed the space and freedom. On Friday, one group of year 6 girls invited me to play their game of ‘piggy in the middle’. It was a pleasure to be alongside them, before at the end of the game without any prompting they thanked me for playing their game. It would have been impossible to leave the field without thinking that our school is a special place to learn and work.
