In English this week we started inventing our Voyage and Return stories. We focused on using ISPACED to help us remember all the different sorts of sentence openers, so that our writing will be as rich and descriptive as possible. We wrote our opening paragraphs.

We have been revising fractions and decimals this week, in Maths, and introducing percentages. We noticed that PER CENT means ‘in 100’. So…

2/10 = 0.2 = 20%

Some of us were not keen to start withnobut by the end, most of us wereyes enthusiastic!

In Collective Worship this week Miss Caple talked to us about trust, hope and love. She proved that she wasn’t very good at football or painting, but we think she might have been pretending to be bad at it! On Friday, Molly and Isla P received their prizes for winning the story and poem competitions at the Festival. Isla was given a framed copy of the winning T shirt design which she helped to produce. WELL DONE both of you.

This week we were lucky enough to have some Badminton coaching. It was new to most of us and it was interesting to see people’s abilities. It was also great fun.

SPORT BLOG (Thank you to our Sports Councillors Charlie Stapleton and Joanna Young, ably assisted by Ben, Tom, Iris and Thomas.)

Last Tuesday, people from year 5 and 6 went to a Kwik Cricket tournament at Warriner School. The year 5 and 6 girls won all their games. The year 6 boys lost in the semi finals and the year 5s were knocked out in the group stages. The finals for the girls’match is on Sports Day.

Final thoughts about the Festival:

What a great way to spend a hot Saturday! The 7 o’clock Junkies were good. I liked the BBQ. I liked all the music – the singing was amazing! Skalectrics…one step beyond!
