This week we started a new narrative genre – the quest. We read and imitated the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. We also investigated how to use fronted adverbials to help our sentences flow and to link our paragraphs together. We found out how to plan and draw mazes and, on Friday, some of us made our own mazes with Lego, and some out of card.
In Maths this week, we have been learning about the properties of 2D shapes and using them to classify, describe and name different polygons.
We began a new topic in PSHE, Healthy Me, and this week we discussed the reasons why we think some people smoke cigarettes. It was a very interesting discussion.
In RE we discussed how much control we have over our lives. We will be linking this tour learning about the events of Holy Week and Jesus’ death and resurrection.
The long-awaited History World War II topic has started. We are listening to the story “Friend or Foe” by Michael Morpurgo and have collected together all the facts that we already know about the war. We have also thought about what we would like to learn about the war. We have been working with a partner to colour a map to show which were the Allies and which the Axis powers.
In Games, we have been practising our Netball skills, chest passing and remembering to stand still with the ball. We have played several small matches and lots of us are good at shooting goals.
We have been learning Easter songs in Music, and have been re-mixing 54/46 by Toots and the Maytals. This is called Dub.
