After a week and 2 days of rest and relaxation, we are back and have hit the road running. The children have remembered the piece of writing that they started in Term 5 and have finished them. They are brilliant! All the hard work over the year practising using adjectives, adverbs, noun phrases, subordinate clauses, speech marks, adverbial openers etc etc.. has paid off!
In Maths we are using the longer written calculation methods to solve money word problems. Keep practising adding coins and notes together -try to increase your mental agility.
Our topic this term is The Rainforest - this is a fantastic topic and links with the artist we are studying - Georgia O'Keeffe and also The Kapok Tree - the text we shall be using in English.
Next week, on Wednesday, the school is having an ECO Day, highlighting the plight of our oceans. We are focusing on reducing the amount of single use plastic in everyday life.
We are hoping to raise funds towards another piece of climbing equipment. The ECO Rangers are concerned about the state of our beautiful willow trees where children have swung on the branches and they have been very proactive in coming up with ideas of how to improve our outside environment.
Superstars this week were Amelia and Millie and Star of the Week was Jensen for his fabulous writing.
