In maths this week, we looked at Roman numerals, all the way up to 1000. We broke Roman numeral codes, created our own examples and completed booklets, working out which numeral was which. For the rest of the week, we measured the perimeter and area of different shapes. We worked, using different methods, on a number of worksheets. On Tuesday, we have learnt all about Triangle Families with Mrs Oatridge, during our maths investigation lesson. Also, we were doing sums in reverse.
In English this week, we have been learning all about newspapers and what it takes to write a newspaper article. We have looked at the different features of a newspaper, learnt all about fact, fiction and opinion and today looked at headings. We created our own headings for very funny photos, using alliteration, puns, rhyme, rhythm and humour. This is also our home learning for this weekend. We also focused on how we would draw the reader into the text.
In Science this week, we were learning about human digestion and how it works. We watched some very interesting videos, discussed the different parts of the human digestive system, labelled the different features and drew around people in our class, labelling their digestive body parts. This was very funny but also really interesting, learning how our bodies work.
In art, we created our own origami frogs, which can actually bounce! We also finished out handprint macaws and out leaves to go up onto our display. They are looking very bright and colourful; we cannot wait to see the finished product! In RE this week, we have been discussing why someone or something is special to us, why we show them love and appreciation and how they show it back. We had some really good discussions and ideas and everyone was very respectful.
