What a busy week for class 4J. Not only have we had 2 parents evening, OSTED in last week but we have also had SIAMS in to look at our RE books and boards. It has been a very busy time for Bloxham Primary, but we have done a large amount of learning!
This week in English, we have started our new topic: persuasion. We have been reading and watching videos of the persuasive book, ‘Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus!’ We have imitated texts and diamond 9s around this subject. In SPaG, we have also been recapping our knowledge of apostrophes, particularly possessive apostrophes.
In maths this week, we have been looking at fractions. We started the week by looking at multiplication and division factors and moved onto looking at finding non-unit fractions and simplifying fractions. This week, we have learnt the fraction of a numbers rule: divide by the bottom and times by the top. And the simplifying rule: to times by the top and the bottom or divide by the top and the bottom. We have worked really hard at our fractions this week.
In PE, we have continued our HITT sessions, working really hard on our stamina and we all had really sore legs afterwards! We even got to go outside in the lovely spring time weather! In PSHE, we have been continuing our topic of the term, ‘Healthy me’. This week we reflected on ourseleves, looking at our own personalities and thinking about if we were an animal, what would we be? We discussed ideas and came up with some really excellent ideas.
In art this week, we came off topic and created our own St Patricks day leapricorn faces. Miss Jobbins showed us some Irish dancing videos and we listened to some Irish music. W had a great lesson, as we learnt about different cultures and got to learn more about the country Miss Jobbins family comes from.
