This week has been a very busy week for 4J!
We started the week in maths, focusing on rounding. We have been rounding to 10, 100 and 1000, some of us, even 10,000 and 1 million! We then worked on halving numbers from 10,100 and 1000 and halving decimal numbers. We were all geniuses at rounding decimal numbers, particularly when we played ‘Who wants to be a mathonaire?’ – We won £200,000! We’re not sure what we want to spend our money on yet!
In English, we have been continuing our learning on the Greek Myth Perseus and Medusa. We made our own object to defeat the gorgon Medusa. We innovated the text so we could fit our object into the storyline. We then read our stories, with our new objects, to each other and discussed how we could make it more engaging and exciting for the reader. Next week (week commencing 14.11.16) we will be continuing with our quest stories, innovating and inventing our own full story, based on the myth.
In PE, we have been continuing the samba dance for our school nativity. We are all coming along really well, even though we’re still not sure about dancing with other boys and girls! We all love it and can’t wait to finish it so we can practice it fully and move onto the next week. In outdoor PE, we finished our basketball topic and next week we will be moving onto hockey. We are really enjoying it.
In music, we have been learning jingle bells on the instruments. We are really enjoying learning our Christmas songs; they are really getting us in the mood for the holidays!
In topic, we have finished learning about the Roman mosaics and finished creating our own. They did take us some time to get done, particularly cutting all the little bits into pieces and sticking them into the squares, but now they all look like the real thing and we are really happy at what we have achieved.
