What a wonderful start to term 4. We have been super busy and have got straight back into learning! This week in English, we have treated ourselves to an entire week of SPaG! We have been focusing on 4 different areas: Fronted adverbials, simile at the start of a sentence, verb inflections (was/ was correctly used in a sentence) and writing, for memory, simple sentences using the correct punctuation and spellings from previous terms. The children loved this lesson and it reminded me of the learning I used to do as a child! In English next week we will be starting our new topic ‘I was there, Viking invasion’ by Stuart Hill.
In Maths this week, we have been revising our knowledge of multiplying 2 or 3 digits by 1 digit using the year 4 methods. We then moved on to dividing 2 and 3 digits by 1 digit. We will be doing these topics again by the end of this term. The children also took their weekly maths test, containing different elements from their learning so far, seeing what we need to focus on more. If you want to know your child’s score for each week, please don’t hesitate to come in and ask.
We have started our new topic in History this week- the Vikings. The home learning set today is to research the Anglo – Saxons. We researched, created our own KWLs and completed a Viking based comprehension.
Have a brilliant weekend and please remember to remind your child to bring their coat in! Its going to be a cold week next week.
