What a busy week it has been! We have not stopped at all, learning so many new things. Everyone has been very excited about coming back to school after a brilliant half term.
In maths this week we have been adding and subtract 3 – digit numbers or more, using the expanded column method. We have also been looking at the compact method as a way of answering these questions.
In English, we have started to learn about the Greek Myth, ‘Perseus and Medusa’. We have made a medusa head out of tights, glitter and paper. Imitated the best text, written character descriptions on Medusa, created a box plot for the myth and also answered comprehension questions. Tomorrow we will be creating our own performances based on the text. We particularly love the character Medusa and her head made of venomous snakes!
Music this week, we have been playing our instruments and learning our nativity songs for this year’s Christmas nativity, ‘Lights, Camel, Action’.
Today in art, we created our Roman mosaics from our designs we drew last week. We used a variety of materials, from: card, paper, pens, pencils and paint. They are coming along well and we will be finishing them next week.
On Tuesday, during our French lesson, we made French monsters and Mrs Oatridge taught us facial features, which we have been practicing in class.
RE, with Mrs Paxton, we have been learning about different symbols and their meanings. We created our own symbols and had to justify what and why we made them and what they meant to us.
In PE, we have been working on our basketball skills and also learning 1 of our dances for the Christmas nativity. Everyone was really good and we nearly got to finish the whole dance! Our chosen dance is the Samba, so we have been practicing our figure of 8 hips and steps. This will be continuing up until Christmas. Everyone really enjoyed it and we have some very good dancers in Year 4 – Strictly come Dancing here we come!
