What a magnificent first week we have had in 4J! It has certainly been a busy one! Not only have we been getting used to our new teacher and classroom, we have also been very lucky to have a new student join our class!

This week in English we have started our whole school topic- ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. The whole school will be studying this book over the next few weeks, looking at different English topic areas. In year 4, we will be focusing on a specific part of the text, also known as ‘the best text’. In class this week we have designed and written about walking through the wardrobe, looking at the senses and experiences that you might face. We then made our own designs and will hopefully be hanging them up soon!

In maths this week we have been looking at number bonds to 100 and mixed digit addition, using the jump method. We started the week by recapping over our number bonds to 10 and then worked our way up. We also started our new Maths investigation topic of digital roots. This is when you multiply 2 numbers and then add the digits together until you get a root number. For example, 11 x 5 = 55, 5 + 5 = 10, 1+ 0 = 1.This week we have also started our new history topic – the Romans, our new RE topic – Judaism and also our new PSHE topic. It has certainly been jam packed for only 4 days at school.

Please note that I will be attaching any information from Mondays ‘meet the teacher’, if you are unable to attend.
