We have had a very interesting week in 4J!
On Friday, we were lucky enough to have parents come into school and see someone of English learning from this term. We show cased our current work on the Great Kapok Tree, through innovation, imitation and invention. We also showed off our SPaG learning from this term. We then took all of our parents into the hall (sadly not outside because of the bad weather!) and sung our Rainforest song we have been learning in Topic, which included very funny sound effects! Finally, we invited all the parents, who attended, to join us in a HITT session designed specifically for children. This was brilliant! All the parents and children got 100% involved and we were all very sweaty and hot by the end of it! We then had a very relaxing yoga session, alongside our stretches. Mr Owens played the guitar throughout and this made us all feel very calm!
In Maths this week, we have been learning how to multiply 2,3 and 4 – digit numbers and also investigated X patterns. Even though this is a tricky topic, we all caught onto it by the end and were able to use different methods – including mental – to multiply the different numbers. Well done.
In Art this week, we have been creating Rainforest animals using different materials. This week, we created Mohawks, using paper handprints and paint. Some of us also created snakes out of paper plates and monkeys using our hands and feet! Over the next few weeks, we will be also making a variety of other animals and plant life all to do with the Rainforest.
In PSHE this week, we spoke and wrote about the losses we have faced in our lives. Everyone in 4J was very open and mature with this discussion and we all showed resilience and reassurance to one another. In Music, we continued to play our instruments. Also, in Science, we have been understanding teeth hygiene. We looked at the different ways we can keep our teeth clean and healthy, what happens if we don’t and also made posters. Next week, we will be looking at the human digestive system.
A massive thank you to all the parents who attended Friday’s parents afternoon. It was lovely to see so many people there and everyone joining in. Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Jobbins and 4J.
