Area, Perimeter, garlands and fantasy worlds!
In Maths this week, we have been investigating area and perimeter of shapes, using the textbooks, objects around the classroom and even the school playground! We all went outside and measure different objects in the playground and calculated their area and perimeter. We really enjoyed learning about this and have even got it for our Home learning this week! We also looked at negative numbers and addition and subtraction. We also had our weekly Mental Maths test on Wednesday. If you would like to know your child’s score, please don’t hesitate to ask.
In English this week, we have been inventing our instruction texts, based on a magical and mythical kingdom. The children had to create their own kingdom, portal and how to get there. We then wrote them out, DIRTed and then wrote them out in neat. Mrs Akers came and observed some of our writing and was amazed at the language and handwriting that 4J shown. She gave EVERYONE a CGB as they were so brilliant. Well done 4J!
We have also looked at Maps, oceans and Continents across the world and the children were able to identify the key continents and oceans of specific parts across the world. In Art, we created flower garlands for this year’s summer set production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by William Shakespeare.
