And Tango makes three

This week in English we have started our new topic for the final weeks of term. The book is called 'And Tango makes Three’ written by Justin Richardson. The book is about two penguins that are in love and want a baby. Unfortunately, they can’t have one as they are two boys, so find a rock and sit and sit but nothing happens. One day the zoo keeper notices and finds an egg for them to keep. They look after it and one day it hatches and they name it Tango, as it takes two to tango. The children have been acting out the story and writing their own family trees, answering comprehension questions and researching different animals that hatch eggs so they can use them in their own version of the story. Next week we will be planning our own version of the story and home learning this week is to make their own version of one of the characters.

In Maths, we have been looking at decimals – adding decimals together, subtracting decimals, ordering and rounding. It has all been very busy!  The children have enjoyed doing this. Next week we will be looking at methods of mental and written multiplication of 2 and 3 digit numbers and our 11 and 12 times tables.  The children will be continuing their Wednesday mental maths tests. If you wish to know how your child’s doing, please don’t hesitate to ask.

In Topic we have started planning and preparing our presentations on Power point to present to another year group. This is based on one of the topics we have already covered on the Vikings: Gods, Villages, Names, Jobs, and Weapons etc. The children are in groups of 3 and will be researching, planning, preparing their own resources and making their own power points that they will then write reflections on.

A massive thank you to all parents who came to Parents evening.
