Week 3 has been full of fun as well as learning.  We have written our invented stories with characters ranging from Big Friendly Vampires to Big Friendly Gnomes! Miss Staples is very proud of our efforts because everyone was resilient and tried their very best. We have begun to learn how to assess our work ourselves against the success criteria of including features in the Writing Tool Box using our green pens.  Everyone included features like paragraphs, capital letter and fullstops, finger spaces, adverbs and adjectives. Didn't we do well! We are editing our own writing too and reading our stories to each other.  Miss Staples says it is important to read our writing to each other as it gives it purpose.

In Maths we have been learning our number bonds ranging from bonds to 5 up to 20 and some of us applied this knowledge to bonds to 100.  Using a systmetic approach and pattern spotting has been a fun way to help us learn. We have also learned the matching subtraction facts called the 'inverse'.

For DT we made a protype kite.  This is a practice one.  We flew them on Friday so that we could evaluate how good the design was. This will help us design our own kites which we will eventually make.  In our evaluations we said that our kites kept spinning and didn't fly very high.  We did think our kites looked good though! Some of us think the shape of our kite design is very important. What do you think?
