In English the children innovated the original text Five Men in a fishing boat and change the story so that the main characters were Robin Hood and his Merry Men travelling in a cart. It was still very amusing and the children enthusiastically generated many great ideas for their own inventions next week which I am very much looking forward to seeing. The children also created 'Save it Boxes' of word banks that contain nouns, adjectives and adverbs. These will be used to springboard writing.
The Maths focus has been reviewing multiplication and division and the use of arrays. Many children can now quickly recall related multiplication and division facts. Fantastic! In Outdoor Learning the children used our wonderful outdoor environment to generate their own word problems and illustrate the matching multiplication and division using arrays and therefore showing the inverse. The children also understand that multiplication can be done in any order and that division cannot.
Our Topic work focused on the Geography aspect of the learning. The children had great fun creating keys using cars for a map. The cars were placed on the map to represent Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties. Some children also identified the counties that have F1 Teams based in them. A super lesson!
