We have been very busy little workers in Year 2 this week! We started our week using our problem solving skills to work out how to create a line of 2d shapes where the adjacent shape was the same shape or same colour. We only had a red, yellow and blue triangle, red, yellow and blue square, a red, yellow and blue cirlcle and a red, yellow and blue rectangle. Some of us drew our patterns, others used shape cards but we all found out there was more than one solution. Try it, its fun!
In English we innovated our text so that it became 'Should Jeffrey have stolen from the Wolpertinger?' We have also made vocabularly changes, using more adventurous nouns, adjectives and verbs. We are beginning to learn about 'Complex Sentences' and developing our understanding of 'main clauses' which is more important than the 'subordinate clause'.
We imagined we were at the cinema in topic and watched the original black and white footage of 'The Wright Brothers' first flight. We can recall lots of facts about them and make connections with other inventors too.
Finally, we contniued our creative learning by learning how to 'French Knit'. We loved it so much that some of us took it home to contnue our learning and then brought it back then next day - they were very long! Mrs Oatridge awarded lots of her special gold stickers and couldn't believe that when held up, some of the knitting was taller than her!
Thank you to all those that purchased the 'Reindeer Food' at the Christmas Fete that we have been busy making. It's all in the Magic!
