Class 2S have worked their socks off this week!
In English they have been imitating a poem about a shipwreck using musical instruments to tap out the rythmn. Alot of discussion about descriptive language and how it allows the reader to have a deeper meaning has taken place using the new strategy of 'In a Nutshell'. The children visualised what 'wonders' the explorers might have found in the ship wreck and then independently wrote a third verse to continue the poem. Many children have had the opportunity to share their work this week with other members of the school because I have been so proud of their efforts and success.
In Maths the children have been learning to tell the time using practical clocks then extending to recording time on blank faces. Some of the chidren have begun to tell the time in 5 minute intervals. Perseverance and resillience has prevailed!
In Topic the children watched a power point of informational facts about the Titanic's maiden voyage and plotted her course on a map. They then sequenced the key events that led to her sinking. Again the children worked diligently to produce accurate and well presented work.
Rest up 2S, you have worked very hard this week.
