Authors and Super Mathematicians
I was not disappointed in English! The pride I felt reading 30 invented stories, written by the budding 2S authors was immense. Every child wrote a focused piece that included adjectives, adverbs, interesting sentence openers and their own imaginative ideas. Application of their phonic knowledge for spelling independently is developing very nicely as is the children's use of accurate punctuation. Talking of speling, a big thank you for the support you have given your child in learning their spellings. It was very apparant that the class had spent time using the 'Look, cover, write' approach to secure the accurate spelling of their words this week.
In Maths this week the children focused on developing, securing and building on number bond knowledge. Some children were able to apply their knowledge of bonds to 10 to begin to learn bonds to 100. The children pattern spotted and developed their understanding of the relationship between related additon and subtration bonds. For Example 1 + 9 - 10 10 - 9 = 1
10 + 90 = 100 100 - 90 = 10
In D.T the children explored the materials available for making their kites before designing them. They are very excited about the DT session on Tuesday!
