This week, in Maths, we have been subtracting using written calculations and checking our answers by using the inverse operation. We have been finding the difference between up to 4 digit numbers.
We have been writing shape poems in English. We finished up by inventing our own mountain shaped poem including: technical words, descriptive language (similes), alliteration and onomatopoeia. We painted a picture of a mountain and wrote our poem on it. Some of us had to use white and silver pens as our mountains were darkly coloured. They are beautiful and we are very pleased with them. On Tuesday an author called Lawrence Prestidge came into school to talk to us. He has written books called “Rolo” and “Terror in the Sweet Shop”. It was very enjoyable to listen to him.
In Computing we have been planning our own games and writing our ideas for them.
On Thursday we had Golden Time. There were lots of enjoyable activities: Halloween Crafts , painting, Tag Rugby, Drama and Halloween Origami. There was something for everyone and we all had a great time.
In RE we have been finding out about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We made clay divas and painted them in bright colours, sticking on sequins to make them sparkly.
Word of the week: summit
Thought of the Week:
It matters not how many times we fall,
What matters is how many times we rise.
