Firstly, Miss Staples went to see Mrs Oatridge today with an entire class of Spelling Books popping with pride because the hard work and commitment to learning quite challenging words is paying off in 2S. Well done one and all - parents included for supporting your little ones.
Our focus in Maths has been fraction of number extending to 'Mixed Numbers', followed by an investigation into the shading of shapes with multiple shapes inside. We realised that our knowledge of whole numbers and finding 1/2s and 1/4s of them using division was the key to correct shading. We also explored equivalent fractions. The lesson began with an 'In a Nutshell' discussion then shared and developed until the we had worked out the relevent strategies ourselves. Amazing Maths 2S!
We are looking forward to next week as we have now planned our Newspaper Report using our knowledge learned in our Titanic Topic.
We have also continued to rehearse the play 'The Unsinkable Ship' and most of us know our words and stage positions. There are some great actors amongst us - but you will see for yourselves soon!
Games has been fun, practising how to pass to each other using a tennis ball.
Timing was very important in music as we are now playing the keyboard in time with each other.
And finally, much excitement was had today during Outdoor Learning along with incredible silence as we tiptoed around the school pond to 'Newt Spot'. Some of us saw some very big males with their crests and white flash tails. Lots of tiny ones can be seen to.
